History
Founded around 1963 in Costa Mesa, California by former Columbia Yachts people (Handy and Jenkins), Ericson began with molds from a defunct builder. After an early Chapter 11 and 1965 purchase by Mark Pitman and Del Walton, it began a long collaboration with naval architect Bruce King. Owned successively by Pacific American Industries (1968) and CML (1971), Ericson produced over 1,000 boats before ceasing operations in 1990; Pacific Seacraft later built some models until about 1999.
